Gamble is the coordinator of the Jann Benson Ethics Center in the department of philosophy. His interests are contemporary moral problems; he teaches an online class in moral and social problems and also the same class in a traditional classroom.

He received his Ph.D from Washington University in St. Louis in 1974.

In his spare time he builds furniture and paints.
