Biography

I am a second-year master's candidate and graduate teaching assistant at Colorado State University. I grew up in Lexington, South Carolina and attended the University of South Carolina in Columbia for my undergraduate degree, where I studied philosophy and political science.

I am writing my thesis on Spinoza's Ethics, where I argue that his third kind of cognition, scientia intuitiva, has God as a cause, and consequently cannot succumb to akrasia. Outside of my thesis, I have a general interest in early modern philosophy (esp. Kant), the philosophy of lightness and weight (Italo Calvino, Kierkegaard, Nietzsche, Weil), and the philosophy of trust. I also have an interest in constitutional interpretation. I plan to attend law school in Fall 2026.

Outside of my studies, I like fishing, reading, watching professional football (go Ravens!), biking, and hiking. I play a little bit of online chess and love completing sudokus.
