Please join us for a lecture by the Willette Visiting Professor of Catholic Studies, Dr. Doug Finn, on Wednesday (12/8) at 4:30 pm in the Lory Student Center (rms 226-228).
“Tragedy and Healing in the Midst of Time: The Therapeutic Memory of Grief in Augustine’s Confessions”

In this talk, I will seek to address two questions, one broad and the other with a much narrower focus. More broadly, I will consider the compatibility of the Christian narrative and the tragic, considered as a worldview and as a literary genre. More specifically, I would like to consider the role that tragedy plays in Augustine of Hippo’s renowned work, Confessions.
