We are pleased to announce that the Distinguished Lecturer in Environmental Ethics for 2024 is Dr. Chris J. Cuomo, Professor of Philosophy and Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Georgia. Please join us for Dr. Cuomo’s public lecture.
“Caring about Nature: Necessary Responses to Our Climate Crisis.”
Even when we overcome the problem of climate change denial, the question of how to motivate ethical priorities and solutions remains. Many assume that understanding the extreme danger of climate chaos for human wellbeing is enough to provoke effective climate action. However, Dr. Chris J. Cuomo argues that without intense ethical caring about nature itself, the sufficient motivation to effectively address climate change will elude us. Cuomo will share strategies for cultivating the ethical caring that is needed to combat the serious and very real threats posed by global climate change.
Thursday, October 3, 4:30-6:00 pm in the Lory Student Center, rm 308-310.
