Please join us for a presentation by Josh Brekel and Aaron Nielsen, “A Statistical Analysis of Philosophers on Philosophy.”

Abstract: In 2020, a PhilPapers survey carried out by David Bourget and David Chalmers asked over 900 philosophers from 99 philosophy departments around the world their views on various philosophical issues. In early 2023, a team from the Colorado State University Statistics Department reached out to Bourget and Chalmers to obtain raw survey data in the effort to make an interactive web-application for clearer analysis of the 2020 survey results. That team is prepared to share their progress on the application with graduate students and faculty from Colorado State University Philosophy Department.

Please join us at noon in the CSU Philosophy Department Ethics Center, Eddy Hall 6, on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024 for an opportunity to gain greater insight into the views of philosophers from around the world. We also hope to provide some analysis of a smaller survey given to the CSU Philosophy Department last fall.
