SUMMARY:"Toxic Positivity and Ethical Mistreatment" with Kate C.S. Schmidt
DESCRIPTION:“Toxic positivity” is an everyday term that has gained popu
larity since the pandemic\; Colloquially\, toxic positivity is a phenomeno
n where individuals are criticized because of their relentless positive em
otions. Toxic positivity presents a challenge for philosophers studying em
otion: what’s wrong with feeling positive? I think ethicists should work
on understanding toxic positivity because it is being used as a new form
of ethical criticism\; when someone is acting toxically positive they are
 acting ethically badly.
